Descrizione
Through the collection and examination of public discourses, manifestos, interviews, articles, and other types of divulgatory documents, the research team unit of Milano Statale aims to understand how young climate activists and their social movements shape and propose ‘alternative future imaginaries’ to encourage young people to take action about the climate crisis. Simultaneously, the research team will explore whose voice(s) are represented through the production of these discourses, and the role of power in shaping and highlighting these alternative imaginaries.
An important part of the analysis will be to understand whether, and to which extent, imaginaries produced by activists overlap with imaginary produced by the literature of the so-called Young Adult Climate Fiction. Particularly, the research teams has an interest on the ambivalence between ‘utopian’ and ‘dystopian’ imaginaries and their role in justifying, ‘boosting’ or ‘demobilizing’ the engagement of young people in political activities.
